#010 Reveal Time!

HELLO ...

This week has been good, lots of commits and hours worked. The sun has been out here in Iceland and it's been hard to lock yourself in the office and do some work, but that's what you have to do as a sole founder these days ... :) But my god, I am not complaining ...

SO FAR ...

Last week I promised that it was some time for some show-and-tell, and it's finally here! It's a bit unpolished and raw, but you can check out the public booking widget. You can create a booking all the way, go through the booking process, do a payment with a payment gateway, and get to the confirmation page of the order.

The image I had in my head of this process is pretty much there, but there is a lot of polish left. There are no active form validations, the code is not optimized for different screen sized yet and some product types are not working as I would want them to, but I am really happy with the direction this is taking me.

It's a really good feeling when you like where the product is going, and like the way the code is being built, setup and optimized. It's such an empowering feeling.

SO NEXT ...

As I said, you can create an Order in Itsy, based on a Trip, but there is no email being sent as a confirmation as of yet. Also, for the Workspace creating the Order, I need to carry out some calculations when the booking is created and that is exactly what I want to begin with next week.

Everything apart from the Trips and the Orders will be handled by external systems in Itsy. You will be able to setup workflows, using Google Workflows. Some calculations and internal things will be available as Workflow Modules, but used by the Workflow Engine.

I think it's going to be a very flexible and optimized way of doing things, and am very excited to begin this step of the system, which I think will be it's unique selling point.
